CAWA and Aftermarket Partners Stop SB 750 - for now
Due to the opposition of CAWA, its members, and other aftermarket organizations (ASCCA, AAIA, CARE, and CalABC), SB 750 has been put on hold - for now. This bill would have given BMW exclusivity on replacement keys at the detriment to the aftermarket. And, although its currently "on hold" CAWA will remain cautious and ready for action, should the issue surface again. We thank all members who wrote letters of opposition. These are the types of efforts that provides CAWA the strength needed when representing its members and others in the automotive aftermarket industry. |

CAWA Presents to NAPA Distribution Center Customers
President & CEO, Rodney Pierini, spoke to several NAPA jobbers and members of the Genuine Parts Company (Fresno Distribution Center) at their customer appreciation dinner this week. The presentation focused on the need for an aftermarket first line of defense out West and CAWA's role in promoting and protecting the interests of the industry and its members.. |

CAWA Arranges A Private Meeting with Manufacturing Company Representatives and the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR)
There are times when our members need to meet with government officials to discuss information, tell their story, and offer assistance where appropriate. Recently, CAWA's legislative team set up a meeting with BAR representatives for a manufacturer member to begin a discussion regarding repair garage training requirements. Workers Compensation Fraud Claims
Our California based attorney reports several inquiries regarding the requirements of accepting and processing work comp claims when the business believes the claim is fabricated or non-work related. All employers who have 50 or more employees are subject to compliance with these worker protection and leave statutes (Family Rights Act claims). CAWA's program, HR360, is an electronic human resources informational program free to members can assist you with issues related to this Act. |
