There are three major components of CAWA’s government affairs program. These components represent the strengths of the program and require member and association partnership to be effective.  The three components are: (1) a strong lobbying presence in the state capitols of Sacramento, Carson City, and Phoenix, (2) a grass roots outreach program that reaches into the communities of the two states and engages members in meetings with public officials; and (3) a political action fund that promotes the Association and supports legislators and candidates that understand the aftermarket industry, are sympathetic to business issues and realize the necessity for our members to remain viable as strong and vibrant businesses in a most competitive and regulatory environment.

Darrell Issa in NapaDecisions and actions by state legislatures and administrative agencies often times result in a direct positive or negative impact on CAWA members and the aftermarket industry. The Association remains vigilant on behalf of the members and industry in Sacramento, Carson City, Phoenix, and Washington D.C. Our partners in California are the Automotive Aftermarket Legislative Coalition (AALC) and the national association, the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA). With the strength of these partners, the aftermarket is assured of daily vigilance and long term planning to assist our members in staying competitive and free of unnecessary government intrusion.

The Public Affairs Committee of CAWA guides the Association on legislative, regulatory and political matters of importance to the membership. This group of aftermarket business owner volunteers shape policy and provide direction to the Association’s legislative team. Members of the team and their contact information are:
