ARIZONA HOUSE LEADER MEETS WITH CAWA MEMBERS

PHOENIX, Arizona -  The California/Nevada/Arizona Automotive Wholesalers' Association (CAWA) held a private meeting with Arizona House Leader Representative John McComish to highlight critical legislative and regulatory issues the Association is actively working for its members.

Held at the NAPA Distribution Center in Phoenix on January 9th, CAWA members Mike Lott, NAPA; Garren Martin, NAPA; Bill Fischer, WIX; Al Gaspar, AAIA; Frank Lushinskly, Chris Kouri & Assoc.; John Hansen, Chris Kouri & Assoc.; Gary Perman, RPS Marketing; and CAWA Staff, Rodney Pierini, President & CEO; Stuart Goodman, Legislative Advocate; Jennifer Zins, Director of Government Affairs; and Wayne Wells, Membership Services Representative, met with Representative McComish to introduce him to key aftermarket professionals and discuss important legislative and regulatory issues impacting the automotive aftermarket and business industries in Arizona.

Representative McComish, Majority Whip of the Arizona House of Representatives and a pro business advocate, was very receptive to hearing about important issues like workers compensation reforms, skyrocketing costs of providing health care for employees, repeated attempts to lock the aftermarket out from providing parts and repairs to consumers, and attempts by states to begin taxing services like auto repair, to name a few.

"Having the opportunity to talk in a personal setting with members of the Arizona Legislature is an extremely valuable aspect of our pro-active and growing government affairs program in Arizona," stated Rodney Pierini, President & CEO, CAWA.  "John McComish, a strong leader in the Arizona Legislature understands business! We need more legislators like Mr. McComish advocating for small businesses that truly understand the challenges we face on a daily basis."

Founded in 1955, CAWA is a nonprofit trade organization representing automotive jobbers, warehouse distributors, retailers, manufacturers and manufacturer representatives in California, Nevada and Arizona. CAWA's mission is to provide communications, education, legislative and regulatory advocacy and group purchasing of services for its members while promoting the automotive aftermarket industry.
