A United Voice for the Automotive Aftermarket
Many aftermarket manufacturers, service providers and groups (see
list below) have joined CAWA to support what we do in government affairs
in Sacramento, Carson City and Phoenix. We are positioned to protect
your interests in legislation and regulation, as well as, the interests
of your customers and the aftermarket industry out West.
In doing so, we need your financial support to continue the vigilance
and action necessary to assure a viable and competitive aftermarket.
Unfortunately, if the industry will be positively or negatively impacted
in a state Capitol, Sacramento is the place. For what begins here most
likely will spread East and affect all businesses in the aftermarket
throughout the Country. Some examples of this include:
CAWA is coordinating a collective aftermarket response to CARB's
proposed 15 year /150,000 mile warranty program, which will have
national implications.
CAWA coordinated the aftermarket's successful passage of legislation to
assure access to information and tools for emissions related parts and
service. This bill was the precursor for the current push for federal
legislation as embodied in the Motor Vehicle Owners Right to Repair Act.
CAWA continues to oppose the new car dealers and manufacturer’s attempts
to monopolize the sale of parts and the rendering of repairs through the
use of legislation and regulation to the detriment of the aftermarket
industry.
CAWA fights for reforms in workers compensation, government mandated
health insurance, shakedown and frivolous lawsuits being filed against
aftermarket businesses.
CAWA is examining the purchasing habits of independent garages through
the new car dealer system and has called for a Summit of manufacturers,
distributors and repair garage owners to determine if there is an
adjustment needed in the marketplace to off set this disturbing trend.
The members of CAWA are your customers, allies and the industry
leaders out West. We believe this market warrants your support. In
truth, this Association is your first line of defense in government
affairs. Therefore, CAWA needs your support in continuing its role on
behalf of your company, your customers and the automotive aftermarket
industry.
