CAWA and Other Aftermarket Groups Begin Planning 2014 Industry Summit
In 2014, AAIA, the California Automotive Teachers (CAT) and the California Automotive Business Coalition (CalABC) will join with CAWA and ASCCA to conduct the fifth annual Industry Summit. Contemporary automotive issues will be examined with representatives throughout the aftermarket chain of distribution. The Summit, which has been well attended and highly informative, is scheduled for Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the Embassy Suites in Sacramento, California. CAWA Bills Followed in the 2013 Session of the California Legislature
Governor Jerry Brown signed 805 bills and vetoed 96 before the deadline of September 20, 2013. See the list of bills (

2013 Dues Non Deductibility Statement
For federal income tax purposes, CAWA dues may be deductible as a business expense but not as a charitable contribution. CAWA estimates that 53% of your dues for 2013 are not deductible as a business expense because they are attributable to lobbying as is in accordance with Internal Revenue Code Section 6033. Contributions to the Political Action Fund are not deductible as a charitable contribution or as a business expense for federal income tax purposes.
Prop 65 Reform --- a Welcome to Business and CAWA Members
In early October, California Governor, Jerry Brown, finally reacted to the pressure from companies doing business in the state that were asking him to alleviate the ridiculous burden of frivolous lawsuits based on the state's Proposition 65 (Prop 65). This seems to be a trend from certain political figures that are taking strong stances on behalf of industry in the face of several state and federal reforms of toxic substance programs. See the
